JEFF BUCKLEY PLANTS A KISS TO NUSRAT!

JeffBuckley

I’m a huuuuge Jeff Buckley and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan fan and here’s something very beautiful and quite moving man!

Of course I always knew Jeff was a huge Nusrat fan.  I always remember reading about this and also seeing his dedication to Nusrat on his posthumous album SKETCHES where he said to Nusrat (obviously said at some point before his own tragic death):

“You are the Sound within the Sound, the voice within the voice.  Inshallah.”

If you don’t own any Buckley or Nusrat stuff, man get it, your collection has a huge gaping hole in it.

Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam was also a big fan of Nusrat and was also Jeff’s good friend, he was lucky enough to do some stuff with Nusrat on the Dead Man Walking Soundtrack, again get it, an essential for your collection.

This video was brought to my attention by my good friend in the States, Umar Akbar and my favourite Italian Belly Dancer, Gangsta Moll and Diva, Monica Di Maggio!

Jeff paying his respects to Nusrat, BEAUTIFUL!

I heard about Jeff Buckley through Mr. Bobby Frictions ( i think career highlight) qawalli show, paying tribute to the late great ustad nusrat fateh ali khan. By the UMB when is Friction giving you his mix with bells and whistles, I have been waiting ! lol

Thanks Umar, I had no idea that Bobby had covered it on his Qawwali show as I missed it but bigs ups to Bobby for doing that. Man, he is very busy but he promises me that I’ll get the mix.

Jeff’s life is very tragic indeed and there are so many melancholic connections.

Tim Buckley’s track Dream Letter is an ode to his son Jeff, a son that he never really got to know!

Jeff drowned as we all know but just before he did he was singing Whole Lotta Love by Zeppelin

When I saw that video of Jeff’s tribute to Nusrat, I’m not afraid to admit that I had real tears in my eyes…

I miss him so much, like millions of others….!
