zapata vive

zapata vive

The  rich history of political discussion and organizing in Chiapas from the zapatistas produced something genuinely original, a new leftist language and vision. This includes musical perspective about what it means to be Indian within a larger Mexican/Global nation.

It includes discussion about new forms of democracy and an inventiveness regarding civil society.

Not long ago Manu Chao posted on his website a GB post! i got stuck for a while there, i had time to read one of his older posts, and it ended up we had been selected by some fans for a FREE EZLN compilation with tons of good people!!

He was in CD 1 and i was in CD 2 .

Months later I received an email from someone very close to EZLN and asked me if i could do a Dn’B version of  the zapatista speech. i did that song back in 2007.

here’s the track Zapata vive! by caballo

Manu chao also has a version of the speech

The result of the zapatista revolt was a new leftist vision also includes a communication and public debate deeply rooted in popular cultural idioms – indeed, in the language of rock and roll and its progeny.

If you want to know who is/are in the Compilation before download you can check this out!!!
