El Angel is written and performed by El Afinaito. I do not know who originally did El Gozon. Most Champetas available online are not properly listed.

nice info!! ..@Lucas.. u r the champeta bible!! Too bad that K.E.N didn’t know that info..i am pretty sure he’d have given the credits..as he always does.. but i guess when people don’t know where/how.. it’s hard to find that info.. we (genbass) try to show this amazing music to the world.. and it’s really good to have people like you here so who really want to know about those faces and names will have this lil space to ask and be answered by you or anyone who knows more about this stuff..

I know this is an old article, but check out the sick sound systems they create. I love the designs. Next question is how can I play on one of them?

I have all the Palenque releases, all are great. The reason behind me doing Champeta remixes was to expose the music and culture to a wider audience. Hopefully people will go back to find out where the music came from and where it is presently. Certainly Caballo’s coverage helps to point people in the right direction. I’m really into the 70s to early 90s sound. Most of the releases these days are very poppy, which is fine, but it’s nice to find releases that are more gritty.

Here is one of my favorite Champeta sites to visit
