MORE SOUTH AFRICA
The World Cup is over but please don’t take your eyes off SA!
Here’s something with a bit of a story.
Not my cuppa in terms of music style, a bit too feel good poppy for my likes but check it out, some of you may dig it.
“South African from the waist down” is the story of a simple South African car guard named Silver, with a passion for poetry and music. Silver is given the opportunity of a life time to send out his uniquely South African message to the world and keep the flag flying.
The story behind “South African from the waist down”…
The car guard Silver writes a song, which one day gets discovered by the music composer Alistair Davis, in the streets of South Africa. Alistair instantly falls in love with the song and decides to take Silver to the Kaleidosound recording studio in Cape Town to meet the music producer Gabi Le Roux, who produced numerous albums for top selling artists including Mandoza.
Gabi at first turns them away but Alistair believes in the song and calls his old friend Aidan who then agrees to work on the lyrics, together with Silver. Finally they approach Gabi again and this time he loves it!
“South African from the waist down” went into production and the recorded version got a record deal with EMI South Africa.
The single is now available for download worldwide on iTunes & is also available as a mobile ringtone. It has been released on June 28th on the “Halala Soccer Album”.
The music video to “South African from the waist down” showing Silver’s unique message to the world has been produced by Coza Productions.

Ok man let’s go on to some Moombahton
This first track came via e-mail!
Even our fave Electro-Balkan band are getting in on the act. Having created Balcumbia, they now move onto some pioneering Shazalakazoobahton!
This is actually some kind of moombahton stylee re-work based on a few parts of “Simfonijski ples br. 2” (Symphonic Dance no. 2), by Istrian composer Slavko Zlatić (1910-1993), a classical piece inspired by Istrian folk music. It`s made during the “Remixing Traditional Music Through Modern Electronic” workshop, held as a part of Media Mediterranea Festival in Pula ( www.metamedia.hr )

Slavko Zlatić (1910 – 1993) was a conductor, composer and musical pedagogue. Born in Istria, he worked for many years in Rijeka, Zagreb and Pula. His extensive biography includes the founding and leading of the musical societies Jeka s Jadrana, Glazba Trsat and Glazbeno društvo Sušak. He fulfilled many important functions: he was the president of the Yugoslavia’s and Croatia’s composer societies, and a member of the international council for music at UNESCO. His opus as a composer includes many choral compositions, the most praised among them being the Variations on a folk theme for choir, alt and piano (Varijacije na narodnu temu za zbor, alt i klavir). Many of his works, inspired by Istrian folklore, were written for various instrumental groups; like the Istrian dance (Istarski ples), Grudo motovunska and the Wind quintet (Puhački kvintet), to mention just a few.

You know New Zealand doesn’t just have a KILLA Dubstep scene emerging, these dudes are leading the House revolution too!
Had these dudes on a few times before on t’blog as they’re making some of the most interesting House music that’s guaranteed to destroy the dancefloors. I’m always playing their stuff out at Supperclub London!

TOMMIE PUTS THE SHINE ON ARCADE FIRE
Massive Festival Tune..just try it out!
PUT YOUR INDIE SIDE ASIDE AND FEEL THE DISCO ! ! !
Taken from the Billboard Hot 100 #1 album in its first week of release! I have always felt there was a lack of edits and remixes of such a great band. Junior Sanchez did one years ago that I played forever. The clear winner off the new album, this track moved me the first time I heard it. I also heard the Disco in it and made it a reality. Yet another notch in the Quaalude project legacy. Enjoy.
Da Poz makes this beautiful track available for free download, absolute GEM!
Check out amazing Alin here www.soundclick.com/alinrogoz
Some GREAT stuff here encompassing a variety of styles and genres from Balkan through to Arabic and North African vybz!
SALETICO is in real Life Sasa “Sale” Marjanovic, Drummer, Percussion Player, MIDI Enginner, Loop-Sample Builder, in general a real “blazed” Balkan “Musicus”. Right now he bid on FLAMENCO Nuevo within the scope of the Band CONCOPA (www.concopa.com), here he plays the Cajon and E- drums in different styles, all mixed up in Flamenco Rumba, Balkan Beats, Buleria, and it becomes something called Latin Jazz. Sale is doing much more beyond, especially followed his roots in case he is born serb from the southserbian town Nish, but he is now living and working in Dortmund (Germany). In his bourgeouis Live he is working as a Service Engineer in the Semiconductor Industry. In the past, when you have asked Sale what he will be when he grows up, he proudly have let you know this: ” I wanna become a circus musikus (..and not a educated, normal musican…) at the circus RONCALLI”…the most of the time right now he spends with his two sons who are his blood, mind and life forever !!!!
