LEE "SCRATCH" PERRY & ARI UP of THE SLITS making DUBSTEP!!!

hello

Saying that Dub is getting so Massive in the past few years; mainly thanks to a dubstep fever that’s sweeping the face of the earth, and if we add new sounds and punky dancehall styles of popular of like M.I.A or Nneka..people go insane!
But the pioneers and originators of these “new” aesthetics have received little hype–until now.

This is the first time JA’s dub originator, Lee Scratch Perry, & UK punky reggae pioneer, Ari Up, have appeared on record together!

It is an effort to represent classic dub reggae and of course a dose of new dubstep flavor.

The combination is dynamite! Both Scratch & Ari Up deliver classic vocals in their signature styles, a clever lyrical balance that juxtaposes conscious culture and spirituality with humor and wordplay.

The “Hello, Hell Is Very Low” vinyl 45 features a dub and vocal take based on Subatomic Sound System’s rootical dubstep workover of the rare and classic “Underground Roots” riddim.
On the A-Side, “Hello, Hello, Hell is Very Low” features tough lyrics from Lee “Scratch” Perry alongside Ari Up of the Slits and original melodica from Subatomic Sound’s Emch that summons the ghost of Augustus Pablo.
