Sometimes we drop music to make people dance, sometimes we make a statement!
This one is a DOPE SONG from BLND! supporting the ORU refugee camp
On 17 June 2003, the UNHCR office in Lagos, Nigeria, received a total number of 1,986 asylum seekers
from Liberia, where internal conflicts continue to intensify. Several civilians were forced to flee the
country. The asylum seekers include 858 women, 564 children and 564 men, who have been sheltered in
Oru refugee camp jointly managed by the Nigerian Red Cross Society, UNHCR and the National

Oru was/is a refugee camp in Nigeria, operated by UNHCR. The camp technically closed at the end of 2008, but in fact still about 3000 people live there with no support from UNHCR, ICRC, Nigerian Government and NGOs.
Voice sample is from an interview with Fatim Dollay, the Chairperson Liberian Refugees talk about their situation a day before the UNHCR withdrawal.
