My last Lazer Bass post of 2010.
I think we’re gonna see this genre grow and grow. Of course the West Coast in the States is over-run with it already.
So let’s start with an artist who will be one of the leading new revolutionaries in this scene, Generation Bass’ very own homeboy GOLDRUSH!
I am sooo excited about this release, it really is one of the most beautiful, gorgeous and original EPs I’ve heard for yonks. I’ve been living with the tracks now for over 6 months but their power never diminishes and that is a really great sign.
All I can say is that it’s coming and for now here’s another freebie from him, which really does not give away that much about the forthcoming release.
As with Munchi, Liquid Stranger, Datsik, Borgore and a few others, I’ve been very lucky to catch NastyNasty at his infancy and witness his rise and rise.
Man, I remember around last September, I kept on telling peeps about this guy and he had about 4-5 tracks on his soundcloud but nobody was talking about him. He had very little feedback on his soundcloud and I saw very little coverage about him and the little I did eventually see, after I had posted about him, did not say anything special about him.
I could not understand it because as soon as I heard his stuff, I was hypnotized! One track, “No Names” was just killing me. I thought to myself, if this guy can do something as beautiful, unique and as moving as this, then he’s gotta be huge but nobody was giving 2 shiits about him.
I thought it was just another case of me really being into something in a big way but not many others understanding it, as that has happened before.
Regardless, I believed in him and so I raved on about him on Gen Bass, on my facebook, stuck him on my mixxtapes!!!
Then about 6 -8 months ago he just exploded.
Man, I don’t know but it just happened and my instinct was proven right once again and it makes me happy for him, not for me!
Mochipet remixes Oakland’s Hottub into heavy bass and twerky synths in the name of the now deceased Energy Death drink Four Loko!
WASHINGTON- The manufacturer of popular caffeinated alcohol drink Four Loko said it will remove the caffeine from its products, pulling the blend off the market just as the Food and Drug Administration is poised to ban it.
Phusion Projects said in a statement posted on its website that the company will remove caffeine and two other ingredients from its products going forward. The announcement cameas the FDA is expected to find as early as Wednesday that caffeine is an unsafe food additive to alcoholic drinks.
That finding essentially would ban Four Loko and other drinks like it.
Another artist who will release on GB Digital in 2011, here’s our good mate Coco and here’s what he says!
My solo debut ep is out now on Lowriders Recordings. As a special treat we’re giving away a free dilly of KRSUR’s remix of Metropolis, downloadable from the Soundcloud link below. I also did a tape to accompany the release, which you can download over at the Lowriders blog (or below).

It’s kinda hard to describe but has a hint of Hudson Mohawke in the mix alongside some classic P-Funk stylings and lovely melodies a-go-go. 2010 electronica with huge hip hop, funk and grime influences.

Coming out on Muti Music, Jan 16th 2011.
Bonzzaj present their first digital only release with the “Star Tracks EP” including tracks from Cougar, Meienberg, NDV and Filewile. This EP is an international cooperation featuring music from Switzerland, Germany and Israel. A selection to sit back in the couch but also to bang the head and move your feet on the dance floor.
Cougar alias Max Stockberg is a blank sheet in the music market out there. Thankfully we received a demo copy of his wonderful music from Baaz, who asked us to release something from him. Yes we do. And the result is a wonderful song called “lights down low” with rhodes, minimal hip hop beats and the fine voice of Stockenburg’s own.
Track “Look at the stars” comes straight outta Tel Aviv, Israel. We reached multi-talented DJ and producer NDV aka Ravid Nadav via Soundcloud and his proper productions with his own release on Botanika . “Look at the stars” is a head banger and shows that Hip Hop can still be creative in 2010.Definitely for those that like the nu disco sound flavored with funk!
Dub music is back on Bonzzaj Recordings. After live experience playing with multiple bands, Meienberg decided to experience digital world of electronic music and shows up with “Epicant Chutney”, which is an excursion in art dubstep made in Switzerland.
But there is also Filewile with “My Rocco”, which is a album outtake of their last successfull album called “Blueskywell” released on Mouthwatering Recordings. Filewile integrated the raw power of their live performances into their production methods and plays his own way of dubmusic with the lovely voice of Zürich based singer Joy Frempong.
