Some stuff worthy of immediate attention.

PHI UNIT & DJ RECK

Our dude has got this event 2morra, if you’re in the area don’t miss it:

On Tuesday, June 21st, Phi Unit and DJ Reck will once again take over NYC’s Bar 13 from 7-10pm with the bi-weekly Moombahton Maxxin party. This week’s special guest will include the original NYC Moombahton godfather, DJ SABO. Moombahton Maxxin is a happy-hour celebration of Moombahton, tropical bass and everything in between to kick your summer off right.

Moombahton has taken hold across the country with parties from coast to coast and Phi Unit is making sure it’s here to stay in New York City taking it upon himself to hold down the city that never sleeps with Moombahton Maxxin. Phi Unit has gained international recognition for his edit of RAC’s remix of Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros “Home”, the emotional yet plaintive track favored by Moombahton’s inventor, Dave Nada, in his recent Moombahton sets. With Moombahton Maxxin, Phi Unit is now preparing to spread the growth of tropical bass throughout Manhattan and beyond.

Also he gave me the tip-off to this nice lil’ piece by DJ Ayres of the T&A label, which is well worth reading:

SAZON BOOYA

Next up we got a message from the Sazon Booya boyz, who I blogged here some time ago, disputing that the Dillon Francis Que Que video is the first official Moombahton video.

I think you misunderstood lads, we think it is still the first official kinda Moombahton pop video and not like a documentary/behind the scenes or live outakes of gigs you’ve dj’ed at, look at moombahton, with all due respect.

Anyways, we’re as pleased as hell to be mentioned on your video by the creator of Moombahton, Dave Nada as being one of the first blogs to embrace Moombahton back in the day, as they say :-)

And here is that video:

Nadastrom vs Heartbreak – Church by Annie Mac Presents

Here’s what she says:

A great little bootleg of James Blake and Nina Simone by LA producers Nadastrom and Heartbreak. This is perfect for a summer’s day at a festival, download it for free and put it on your ipod!!
