AMY WINEHOUSE R.I.P.

A bit off the Generation Bass radar but this woman was an exceptionally gifted vocalist, one of the greatest of her generation!

She died today! :-(

Her album “Back to Black” was perhaps one of my all time favourite albums of the recent past but due to its huge success and over commercialization, I didn’t really make that fact known “on this blog” until now, as you all know we don’t cover the mainstream.  Certainly, one of the greatest pop albums ever!

Huge & sad loss.  This woman had so much more to give.

As with Jim Morrisson, John Bonham, John Coltrane, Billie Holiday, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and many others, another hugely talented, unique and influential artist leaves us, sadly with an unfulfilled potential, but with material that will be played forever!

BACK TO BLACK

YOU KNOW I’M NO GOOD

I always always defended her talent no matter what her personally life was like. She was extremely talented.

“Over-commercialization”?  In other words, you decided to not like it until she died?  Sometimes great talent is “popular” . . .

This makes you a hypocrite, especially as anyone who really KNOWS her music would KNOW she’s not a “pop” artist.

ahahahaah…..she was a pop artist….and I’ve always liked it just like I like other “pop” stuff but I just chose not to celebrate it on our blog like I celebrate underground sounds…!
