ZAKEE : GLORY VID

You might remember our mate Zakee as Zakee Kuduro, Ku Bass extraordinaire with a track that BLEW our minds about 2 years ago, Sane Eba.

Well he dropped the Kuduro from his name and has gone Transnational Pop but man, it’s the kinda heart-warming honest pop that stands out.  He is still incorporating global sounds/images into it though and I LUV it!

Here’s what the PR Says:

Groundbreaking singer/songwriter/producer ZAKEE releases the eclectic single “GLORY” of his debut LP Assimilations out September 13 on Green Owl Records via Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group. This track boasts an impressive montauge of alternative, afro-beat, hip hop, pop and World music.

ZAKEE was inspired to create this song after his travels from West Africa to Brazil. It was in Rio de Janeiro, where ZAKEE had a spirtual journey that allowed him to touch on the intimate subject matter of the poor, mistreated youth and underdogs of society. As an added bonus,we are pleased to announce the video “GLORY” directed by Fernando Reginato & ZAKEE .

This music video was shot in Rio’s Favela da Rocinha, one of the country’s most dangerous slums. In doing so, he made history as the first American musician to film there. The video, features Brazilian action movie star Andre Ramiro. ZAKEE is striving to re-invent the intersection of music, art and culture with an explosive collision of electrifying beats, captivating visuals and incomparable vocalization.
