MIDWEEK MIXXXTAPES: STEELLUNGZ, DJOPTX, THE BLACK DOG

You know what, I’ve not been listening to much Global/Bass stuff this week, I need a little break from it, I’m bored of everything! So this week’s mixxxtapes are a reflection of that, with two big doses of classic 90s hip hop (which it’s actually impossible to get bored of) from SteelLungz and djoptx followed by some spaced out electronics from The Black Dog.

SteelLungz

Round 1 of hip hop throwbackery is packed with huge names, but not necessarily the most obvious tunes, plenty I’d forgotten about or not heard at all on here.

The Black Dog

Serious atmospherics from The Black Dog – spaced out electronics, deep dubtech, tech house (sorry UMB!) and plain techno. There’s still some tunes on here which would fit into a more global bass type set though, Pangaea – Fatalist is a wonky percussive dubby tech monster which I’m definitely gonna get some mileage out of.
