I’ve been periodically checking in on Mariel Mariel over the past couple of years. Not only because she’s nice to look at, but because she’s making her presence known throughout Mexico and South America with a variety of performances and videos.

Originally from Santiago, Chile, Mariel Mariel now lives in Mexico City where she performs and writes music. Her sound varies depending on set up but at all times it is a very good and catchy sound. Being not only a singer but an instrumentalist, Mariel Mariel earns respect from fellow musicians and singers alike.

She is making moves so we better keep an eye on her. Soon she will be big and all I can hope for is to be able to say “I told you so.”

Her brand spanking new song Tirame Un Beso was just released a day ago. This song shows her diversity by skillfully incorporating different musical styles into one song.

Going back a year ago, you can hear her beautiful BossaNova -esque Jazz vocals on Quererte Bien.

I’m sure at this point you need more. I believe this video will deliver the fix you’re craving. On this remix of Nos Llevamos Tan Bien by Pedro Piedra, Mariel Mariel beautiful vocals reminds me of Mono.

Though in my humble opinion I think the original featuring Natalia Lafourcade is still better. It fits my tastes more.

Her slightly older stuff is really good as well. Actually this song she performs on a building top in D.F., was the first song I heard of hers.

And this outdoor acoustic performance has its own special magic going for it.
