PR :

In a scene that is bursting with potential, moombahton producer Jay Fay fits in just fine. On his new EP for Generation Bass, Mashitup, the young tropical bass wunderkind continues to impress the world with a progressive take on the genre’s bold new style. Rarely can someone who’s scarcely past the age of 18 say that they’ve spent half of their life in music, and even rarer than that, have shared stages with the superstar likes of Drake, Steve Aoki, Rusko, Mount Kimbie, Big K.R.I.T, Wale, and Big Sean.

A drummer since the age of nine, this producer and DJ started out as a mash-up wizard before his interest in bass-heavy underground styles of the moment, including indie hip-hop, dancehall and African kuduro made him a prime candidate for Moombahton stardom.

Generation Bass is proud to unleash a collection of tunes that give a taste of the St. Louis, Missouri native’s talents. The title track, Mashitup, sees him soldering tribal beats onto bashment-tinted electronica as his patented builds and drops lead you through peaks and valleys, while the party-starting jackhammer that is Killswitch, produced with Australian Moombahtonista J-Trick, seems to hint at a cinematic armageddon at 110bpm with its foreboding mix of Dutch house warning sirens and cavernous reverbed sweeps layered over intricate, impulsive beats.

Mashitup comes fast on that back of a string of successes for the young prodigy, having released two EPs already this year, Bonkers and $$ OOPS $$, which caught the ear of the likes of Skream, Toddla T and DJ Craze. His trademark hard-hitting jams like Sabro and Jungle, his contribution to the The Rise Of Moombahton compilation, are hi-tech omens – foreboding signs that something major is about to happen. Sturdy drums, low, stomach-rumbling snares, double-tempo percussion and feverish melody synth lines are aimed at your feet.

Jay Fay is the complete package, a producer who has superior production skills, knows no boundaries and has an imagination that leads him to untraveled pathways. The inventor of Moombahton, Dava Nada, has already thrown his weight behind this kid, now it’s time for you to pledge your allegiance to Jay Fay!

BEATPORT

A little over a year ago we dropped a sublime Luv gem on you. The “Love HZ” debut of LA based producer GoldRush turned many heads with his own interpretation of what dubstep is or could be.

GoldRush dropped dubstep with symphonic elements and added multi instrumentalism and complex melody layers to boot. These are awesome tracks that work on multiple layers of listening. The release got some great reviews and DJ support by dudes like: Starkey, +Verb, Liquid Stranger and David Starfire.

So GoldRush returns with his second EP for Generation Bass and this time he asked some of his and our friends to rework the cuts from his debut EP and they sure did.

Remixers like Gladkill, Stephan Jacobs and Sugarpill crystallize the melodic elements and add playful percussion and percussive elements to the original tracks to give them a new breath of fresh air. Richard Sweat adds a healthy dose of steady banging beats to the cut too, taking it back to the dancefloor. Most of these cats are fam to GoldRush, and are also a part of the Headtron Crew, some of today’s most progressive electronic music producers and cutting-edge visual artists in North America.

We are just ecstatic that we, at Generation Bass, get another chance to hand you a dose of new and refreshing electronic music by GoldRush, revised and re-imagined by forward thinking producers that defy the term and concept of dubstep.

Don’t sleep on this game changing release….

Generation Bass presents Javier Estrada’s Prehispanico!

Music is everything man. Music is global and music is power. Music is the means to global communication, in rhythm and words, and in harmony. We are always on the lookout for new people to join the ranks of the growing, global Generation Bass family that communicates through sound, and it looks like we struck gold with Mexico’s most exciting new producer, Javier Estrada. He is new to many people but we’ve been championing him since 2010 after giving him his first exposure on the worldwide blogosphere.

This man delivers everything from tribal to moombahton to pre-hispanic dubstep in a unique, fun-loving, high-energy and tropical manner. Javier’s prolific production portfolio is a tour-de-force through the best that Latin America has to offer in this new burgeoning tropicalized electronica scene and a show of all the possibilities that exist within the ever-expanding world of tropical bass.

This forthcoming EP on Generation Bass is something REALLY special though. This is a slice of deep, Prehispanic rhythmic music, which tries to capture the essence of the Aztec people. The shuffling, slowly evolving and hypnotizing riddims remind us of the impenetrable jungles of South-America and the mystic blood rituals of the Aztecs.

We can try to paint this picture through words but the real power of this release is in its actual musical form. The combination of South American melodies, rhythmic and bass elements that refer to cumbia and of course, guarachero, mixed with the sheer power of crisp modern production is what does the real talking here.

Everyone at Generation Bass has been blown away by this release and everyone who has heard bits and snippets of it is equally impressed. We believe this might be one of the most interesting things you will hear in 2012. If you have ever seen the clips of young kids in Mexico that wear shoes with tips that almost reach their face dancing to this, you know it is the real deal… Be sure to pick this up and keep your eye out for Javier Estrada, a prolific and skilled producer that will take on the world one percussion layer at a time.

BIO:

As Moombahton continues to win over the doubters and assert its position as the most irresistible and compelling musical developments in a very long time, the award-winning global dance music blog Generation Bass proudly presents Over Tones, a new EP by Elonious.

Over Tones is a rich package of the styles and blends that exist within the Moombahton genre, ranging from all-out blasting Moombahcore wobbles in the opener “Hydra VIP” to the electro-funk oriented “To Show You” via the lush melodies of “Away in Silk” and “Move Your Soul”. Elonious proves to be a versatile producer, creating a perfect blend of hard-hitting dancefloor vibes and soulful melodies. He has supported the likes of Skrillex, Benga, Knife Party and Heartbreak over the last year, and you can easily hear the full range of his work in that diverse list of influences. Of course Elonious adds a healthy dose of South American rhythms and percussion, keeping everything in motion and focusing his musical energy on your lower backside.

Elonious (real name: Elon Sharar), is an up-and-coming electronic artist based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He began developing an appreciation for sound crafting through playing piano at a very early age. At the age of 20, Sharer took his musical skills to the next level by beginning to compose and produce his own music utilizing audio software. At first, he leaned more towards jazzy and cinematic styles, but later began to develop other forms of electronic music, releasing stuff on famed Nueva Cumbia label Cabeza, as well as perfecting his skills in playing new musical instruments. Slowly mastering the art of DJing as well, he gained experience running two local favorite after-hours venues in Vancouver. For the past few years, Elonious has directed his focus towards the Moombahton genre, and has started blending his own global music influences rhythmically in there as well.

Over Tones is a mighty 10 cuts deep – and a must-have for anyone who wants to stay ahead of the pack. Keep your eyes and ears on Elonious, he’s definitely one of the kids that will explode into the big time sooner or later…

HIMURO YOSHITERU – GLASS BREAKING EP OUT NOW

[Artwork by: b-positive.gr (http://www.b-positive.gr/)]

All the way from the Land of The Rising Sun, Japan, comes our first EP of 2012 from the magnificent Himuro and it is now available.

HIMURO YOSHITERU is a top notch producer, blending IDM and modern bass sounds into something super fresh. He started out in the late 90’s and was a label mate to acts like Squarepusher and Freeform, but in the last couple of years has developed a distinct style of bass music and dubstep-ish vibes that are both playful and upbeat.

Don’t expect heavy handed samples and dark breakdowns from this dude, this is aimed at the feet and the chiptunes influences gives the tracks a very enjoyable and positive vibe. In his music you can still hear the fast IDM sample chopping and little breaks, but the glue that binds it all together is a dense, heavy, gut shaking bass and hard hitting drums and percussion.

His talent was already recognized by the late great John Peel, who featured him several times on his show, in 2012, Himuro joins the ranks of the expanding Generation Bass family, who are very happy to have such a heavy hitter on board, doing this EP with them. Don’t sleep on these tracks, this is the now sound of bass music…

OFFICIAL VERSION:

Videomit’s Bluesmen Tribute Version:

Lord Cry Cry – “I’ve got the clap induced blues momma” – Videomit’s Bluesmen Tribute Version from Videomit on Vimeo.

READ THE SCRIPT:

Remember life before the smoking ban? How life had a heady, hazier fug of hidden depths and musky abandon? Lord Cry Cry’s debut album throws you into a dreamy what-if world – where the beatnik decadence of the Left Bank is thrown forward to an alternative present, where the eternal, nicotine-hued avant garde exploration has found its way onto the hard drive; where jazz, blues and classic film soundtracks have found common ground with dubstep and electronica. This is the Mississippi Delta relocated to Silicon Valley. This is Tom Waits for the Ableton generation. This is Lord Cry Cry, his debut album, released on Generation Bass on 21st November 2011.

Wildly adventurous, evocative and dream-like, Lord Cry Cry is the brainchild of Berlin-based producer and composer Christopher Donaghue, who brings a whole world of experience to this album – a genre-gliding musician and film-score composer trained in the psychology of music and music composition, his work is able to use music and rhythm to affect emotion, and over its nine tracks, Lord Cry Cry blends everything from soul to ambient via dubstep and jazz, as much in line with 60s library music as the playful noodlings of Money Mark. On his influences he states: “Until I was about fourteen we only had three albums in the house; Roberta Flack First Take, Motown Chartbusters Vol.3 and The Beatles Oldies but Goldies. They are the foundation of everything I do musically. The more music you have, the less you listen to each track.”

His debut single, OneStepTwo, was released by UK independent label Blunt Force Trauma in October 2009 and caught the attention of terrestrial radio and was named 7” of the week by Joe Ransom. Lord Cry Cry has also appeared at Vernissage and music festivals around the world, while his last major appearance was at the Transmediale festival of art and digital culture where he presented a musical lecture boldly spanning the history of progressive and futuristic music – a mix covering genres such as avant-garde jazz, classical, electronic, reggae and dubstep.

All of this points us to the present – Generation Bass are proud to present Lord Cry Cry, the end result of that experimental journey.

MOSILLATOR FILTERED FOREST EP OUT NOW

Filtered Forest EP is out now on Generation Bass:

Mosillator – Bolero 192 kbps – From Filtered Forest EP coming soon… by djumb

Mosillator – Filered forest -Minimix by Mosillator

The hotbed for Transnational Dubstep, Generation Bass, returns to its roots with an amazing EP by mysterious producer MOSILLATOR.

Blending organic and electronic influences into something really special, his Filtered Forrest EP takes dubstep and bass music to the next level. Beyond steady wobbles and crazy and sick bass lines, beyond hard hitting and mosh pit male energy, this is a seductive piece of work that can be enjoyed both at home and in the clubs.

MOSSILATOR wants his identity to remain unknown, to shift the focus from the maker to the actual music, but this is so powerful that it transcends any question about the background of the producer. You can pick up some middle eastern vibes in his tracks, hear some Indian sounding percussion here and there, but the general tone of the tracks touches on so many different parts of the globe that it is hard to pinpoint where these cuts could have been made. Who cares anyway, this is music that touches the very core of what Generation Bass is about: “Cool music from wherever!”

The EP opens with “After Dark”, a slow evolving track that blends lush strings and female voice samples with a sharp dubstep riddim and bass. “Bolero”, the second cut adds a heavy dose of organic bass and live played percussion to the plate, blending this with a really sick bass line that sounds like air bubbling up from the deep seas. A dose of funk is brought to the mixing desk in the third cut, “Cannibal Dance”, adding reggae wonks and a beat that could be from any of Prince’s albums in the 80’s! Lastly, kicking everything into 5th gear is the drum and bass killer “Burning Slow”, which does everything but what its title claims. Hard beats, a beautiful guitar sample and classic drum and bass build-ups give this cut a definite 90’s Metalheadz feel, but the production is so super tight and modern it can be instantly recognized as something that’s created today. The different percussion layers and breaks add an almost Indian raga feel to the cut though, without becoming too obvious. A modern day drum and bass classic? We think so!

MOSILLATOR drops four cuts that are hard to define and classify and that’s what makes them so interesting over multiple listens, both in a home and club setting. Ranging from gentle funk to hard hitting dub step and drum and bass influences, this is simply bass oriented music, to be enjoyed by any modern music lover!

Generation Bass Presents Moombah Volume III : Shazalakazoo – Bang! Bang! OUT NOW

Here’s volume III in our Moombah series, Nevermind the Moombahton, Here’s the Balkaton!

This EP is by Shazalakazoo and it’s called “Bang! Bang!”.

It is out nowwwww!!!!

Shazalakazoo – Bang! Bang! EP Teaser (Mixed by Neki Stranac) – Out on 31st October by djumb

Tracks on EP Release:

01. Bang!
02. Danca Do Facao (feat. MC Gi)
03. Neki
04. Rojo Rubi (feat. MishMish)
05. Bang! (Bert on Beats Remix)
06. Danca Do Facao (feat MC GI) (SaBBo remix)

Generation Bass prides itself in being one of the strongholds of the Moombahton movement. Developing and giving way to young producers to take the genre into new directions from Goombaton & Gabbahton to Moombahsoul and everything in-between. The next chapter in this continuing story is “Balkaton” and the awesome BANG! BANG! EP by that great band with the unpronounceable name Shazalakazoo!

Shazalakazoo is a band from Belgrade (Serbia) formed by Milan Djuric (usb-clarinet, plastic knobs, faders, rubber pads, silicon chips, singing and shouting) and Uros Petkovic (electric violin, turntablism and silicon chips). The band plays danceable electronic bass music spiced with the sounds originating mostly from their own region – the Balkans. Their interpretation of Balkan melodies, harmonies and rhythm patterns are often intertwined with the influences that come mostly from Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa, creating the unique musical blend which they call the Folkstep. These guys are on the forefront of the dance floor and have shifted slowly into Moombahton territory, blending their trusted organic sound with the hard hitting slow beats of the moombah movement!

The BANG! BANG! EP is a hard hitting “Balkaton” monster with 4 original tracks and two amazing remixes, one by Generation Bass regular SaBBo and one by Bert on Beats from Estonia, giving you a total of 6 heavy Global Bass bangers to burn up the floors across the world.

“Bang!” and “Danca Do Facao” set the mood with some great drum programming and dirty synths, referring to the origins of Moombahton, the slowed down dirty Dutch House. “Neki Stranac” is not only a highly prolific Moombahton producer in his own right (he is half of Shazalakazoo), his moniker has now been turned into one hell of a monstrous Moombahton track. Clipping synths and organic percussion form the base of what is surely a classic Moombah joint in the making! The following track “Rojo Rubi” blends Andalusian flamenco influences with an almost cumbia feel, brought together by the hard hitting beats of Moombahton.

This is the next level of global music. Forget everything you think you know about global music and blast out these tracks, this will relate to crowds worldwide!

As a added bonus (as if you need one!), our boy SaBBo turns “Danca Do Facao” into a scorching dance floor monster, complete with hard hitting synth blurbs and steady banging Moombah riddims and amazing Estonian producer Bert On Beats steps up the game by speeding “BANG” up to almost KUDURO speed, making it a true late night party monster!

Don’t sleep on this release and support the global Moombahton movement!

SaBBo – Deepaton EP Out Now – Moombah Volume 2

Generation Bass Digi presents Moombah Volume 2 – SaBBo – DEEPATON

RELEASE DATE 19:09:2011 TODAY

Man of many trades, blender of styles, and musical chameleon SaBBo is back! He’s been handing out free Moombahton tracks via his soundcloud for a couple of years now, but here’s his official drop.

The DEEPATON EP is four cuts of deep, soulful and sexy Moombahton deep.

Naughty samples galore in the cheeky titled “Rubbin’ They Tits” with a classic jacked up Lil’ Kim sample in the hook. The playful synth line and galloping snare enhance the after-hours feel this joint has.

The second killer track is “Touch Me”, a riddim joint which borders on Bashment, that partly grabs back to SaBBo?s other work as a dancehall producer. The riding snare and super nice conga percussion blend perfectly with the Moombah rhythm and the sweet girly voice asking you to “touch me” draws you directly into the warmth of the Moombahsoul.

The track “Stuxnet” sounds like SaBBo found a classic 808 drum machine which has been mysteriously updated to 2011 by the gods of Moombah. A stripped, bare track with emphasis on the rhythms that propel this to dancefloor fodder for any club that knows whats up.

Closing with “I’m Ready”, features Onili and with its lush vocals and bleepin’ synths is a textbook example of the deep direction people like David Heartbreak and SaBBo are taking the new genre in. The beats are aimed at lady legs, percussion to shake the backside and catchy vocal hooks to sing along too, this jam can’t go wrong in the clubs.

Generation Bass prides itself in being one of the strongholds of the Moombahton movement. Developing and giving way to young producers to take the genre into new directions from Goombaton & Gabbahton to Moombahsoul and everything in-between…

SaBBo delivers another killer release for Generation Bass, furthering the warm sounds of Moombahsoul in these 4 hot, blistering tracks!
