Really sweet remix here by Brooklyn based Vermilion Bird of Grammy award-winning merengue artist Elvis Crespo.
She turns the original into Jersey Club Merengue Monster and we like it a lot.
Just shut the fuck up and let the main man talk:
So here’s something that we have been really excited about for quite some time now.
THE sound that has been taking over the Dominican Republic – Dembow.
After the Dominican youth got into Reggeton and later creating an entire scene on their own strength with Dominican Rap, Dembow was making noise on the island with tracks like ‘Pepe’ by Doble T y El Crok. There was a big longing for the riddims found on the Playero tapes, that the polished sounds of Reggeton simply were not providing anymore. Ever since Dembow made an entrance back then in ’09/’10, Dominican Rap was getting on the background and Reggeton seemed to be forgotten about. This was the new sound and it was only after a couple of years of evolving, that the sound finally started to create it’s own identity.
In comes Amsterdam based Godwonder, also of Dominican heritage, to present his 7 track EP. After 2 years, we present his unbiased vision of Dembow. Influenced by Dembow’s “cousins” Reggeton and Moombahton, but also by the islands own Merengue and Mambo, to show how it’s done. People have been sleeping on it for too long, so we decided to crash the parties at ADE to wake everybody the fuck up!
You know what? I’m not even going to describe the tracks for you. I suggest that you go ahead, grab your fucking bottle of Presidente and realize that the sandungueo just started again.
YES IT JUST STARTED. TURN THE FUCK UP!
Great new mix up from Ricky Vaughn that showcases the latest hottest things happening in Moombahton including a bunch of his own tracks, edits and remixes.

Straight from Tru Thoughts:
The first official single from Quantic’s freshly announced ‘Magnetica’ album is “Duvidó” featuring Portuguese resident, Angolan born vocalist Pongolove.
A fiery vocal delivery, with lyrics in Portuguese heavily dosed with slang from Portugal and Angola, makes this intoxicating party cut all the more unique, and showcases the style that made Pongolove a go-to collaborator for Buraka Som Sistema (most famously, aged just 16, fronting their huge 2008 hit “Kalemba (Wegue Wegue)”). Set against Quantic’s heavy electronic bass and authentic and experimental melodic elements, the playful, street-smart artistry of this great MC and singer calls to mind flashes of M.I.A., another early Buraka collaborator.
Reflecting Will “Quantic” Holland’s desire to bring an African aspect onto the backdrop of his Colombian influences of recent years, “Duvidó” unites curulao from the Pacific coast of Colombia with the kuduro and semba rhythms of Angola; and Colombian marimba mixes with the merengue or highlife feel of the guitars. Plenty of innovation bubbles around these traditional sounds, highlighting the innate talent for trend-setting production that has always made him one to watch, across more than a decade as a prolific artist.
As with his every release, “Duvidó” sees Quantic breaking new ground. “It has a lot of elements in it that I had touched on previously through DJ-ing or mixes, but never through my own recordings and collaborative work”, he explains; “I’ve played Angolan music a lot in my sets over the years but I had never collaborated with an Angolan artist, and I was introduced to Pongolove through Buraka Som Sistema after hearing their work together.”
Munchi has that extra magic touch to transform people’s perceptions of what they might or might not like and he is continually changing my mind about things that I usually give scant regard to.
These 2 ditties that he is working on just imbue me with a sense of the great promise that is still yet to blossom from this extraordinary innovator who has influenced the whole dance scene for the past couple of years.
Latino’s stand up!
With track commentary by Munchi:
“En este negocio hay muchas estrellas y poco cielo. Malisimo en lo que trabajamos, porque aqui la cosa no esta facil. Es que abusan de uno.”
Hector Lavoe. That’s my nigga. I never said I don’t listen to Salsa, I just listen more Bachata than anything else lol. It has the same taste as Bachata though, as in the emotion. Bitterness. I never realized it, but recently I noticed that rare Merengue has the same thing.
This is nothing ment in disrespect. A lot of times I make music just to listen to. Shit that never comes out, because it’s just simple shit that I would like to hear. Salsa has this fucking slow ass drag in it that I fucking love and that Chopped & Screwed type of shit or just Trap in general has the same feel. Extremely slow.
At the same time, there is nothing better than bitter music. Just listen, you’ll understand what I mean. Listen with your soul not your ears. I’m dead serious. Try it some more, not only with this. Maybe you’ll realize.
