A long-time friend of mine Palmeto aka Arnold Acosta first enlightened to me the name of this sub-genre of 140bpm bass music that I’ve been diggin/playing out in the past year: Future Jungle. Coming from a Jungle/DnB producer,DJ, Live P.A. background under the alias of Rotfly / Cirkular Square in the early-to-mid 2000’s…it immediately intrigued me to find out more. The sub-genre has mostly the same organic feel and overall tonality of deeply subby, ragga-influenced Jungle with a tempo-transplant that gives it a greater strategic appeal to the currently widespread 70/140bpm era.
Oh man, crowd celebrations are so friggin’ great aren’t they…lol…
Tecno brega or technobrega (Cheesy Techno) is a form of music from northern Brazil, particularly Belém. Music of the genre is created primarily through remixing and reworking songs from popular music and music from the eighties. While there is a large amount of famous music used in techno brega, the majority of it is original material (80%). Several DJs and music producers from the tecno brega movement were featured in the filesharingGood Copy Bad Copy documentary [WIKIP)
We have not had any TECNOBREGA on here for what seems like absolute years, albeit we’ve only been in existence for just over 1 year. Well I stumbled upon some really great stuff yesterday and I thought it was defintely worth posting.
Some of you will LOVE IT and some of you will not but “that’s just the way it is” as Robert Plant said in in Bron Yr- Aur, Wales in 1970!!!!
No info about this DJ save for his name DJ CREMOSO and that he is from Brazil and that he is on twitter!
He has done some Tecnobrega covers of some great pop songs from the 80’s through to modern day.
To cap it all off, I’ve just added a Tecnobrega Mix that our good friend at SoundGoodsjust sent to me which was first published on his blog way back in September 2008!

Lucke Nosferatus, the captain of the spaceship-electro rock band TRILOBIT presents some of his mixed tracks, which are part of the brainstorm to create the musics of the band. The whole process of research, creation, editing, mixing and mastering are of himself. His alter ego on earth is Sassá, a rude redneck which works as a cartoonist, graffiti artist, fanzineiro, tatooist and videogame player. His power as Nosferatus is the unusual mix of styles and rhythms within a single song. His power as Sassá is beat Animau González in the winning eleven.
If you are in LONDON on Tuesday 8 September 2009, you can catch an exclusive BANDISH PROJEKT show at quite a classy venue called Momo’s Kemia Bar. The same guy, Mourad Mazouz, who owns it, also runs another very swanky Michelin starred restaurant/bar called SKETCH in Mayfair and that has to be seen to be believed. The likes of Bill Clinton have been seen dining in there!
The Kemia Bar was the former infamous “Key West” in the 70’s that features on the cover of David Bowie’s “Ziggy Stardust” album. It has been around for almost 10 years now and on every Monday & Tuesday night they showcase the best in LIVE music of the world in a very intimate environment.
It has hosted, in it’s tiny North African themed basement bar, everybody from Khaled, Rachid Taha, Amadou & Mariam, Herby Hancock, Tony Allen, Mad Professor, Tinariwen through to Cheikha Rimitti and ME 🙂 hahahaha
So, Bandish are going to be in very good company.
Because it has limited capacity and a mostly V.I.P guest- list, it would be difficult to get in unless it’s a quiet night and you happen to be lucky.
If any of you are interested in coming along, message me here on this post and I’ll see what I can do for you 🙂
After digging around for more info about the guy, I discovered much to my surprise that he lived a stone throw’s away from me in Birmingham, UK!
He is one of the leading mash up artists on the chilled mash up front for sure, just check his excellent backlog of work, sheer brilliance.
Anyway, lucky for me and you, as I’m also a Brummy (people who originate from Birmingham, UK-you should have gathered that from the AUDIO DAKOOS post), he has provided me with a SNEAK PREVIEW of something he is currently working on:
“TENEBRISM” (Extremes of Light & Dark) is a pure DUBSTEP MASH UP and his follow up/sequel to “Welcome to My World”.
Colatron says this EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW is a very, very rough WIP with loads of work still to be done to it and that it’s probably 6 months away from being finished!
But we have the first 15 minutes (4 tracks) of this excellent work in progress which is ideal for a Monday Morning Chill-Fest and also provides us with an insight to where Colatron is heading with it all, a very exciting place, I think !
I’m really looking forward to the finished article, it’s sounding great mate.
