‘SUFI DUB’ is a new sub-genre being created by an exceptional and truly unique artist called CELT ISLAM who is an English convert to Islam and a Sufi.  He is also a member of the Northern British alternative dub/breaks outfit “Nine Invisibles” and “Analogue Fakir”. On top of all that he shares REMIX duties in a GHETTO-DUB CREW, “THE SUFI DUBSTARS”.

Celt Islam creates music in quite a diverse range of styles and genres. He produces Sufi inspired Ghetto-Dub grooves to create a sometimes meditative dub that transfixes everybody who comes across it, to Electro-Dub driven Drum and Bass to satisfy the dance world.

He often collaborates with some really respected names such as Inder Goldfinger, tabla player for Stone Roses legend, Ian Brown’s band and Natacha Atlas.  His frequent Sitar player is Dawoud Kringle who has recorded and performed with the likes of Lauryn Hill and on Drums is Mick Reed (1919 , Ship of fools and Nine Invisibles). His MC’s include Bongo Chilli, D Bo General and DanMan (Iration Steppers).

His new album “DERVISH” is dropping in the summer and we reckon it’s going to blow up the Ghetto-Dub scene.  If you want to hear some forthcoming cuts from it, check out his My Space.

To get you into gear for its release we have some goodies:

You can download his brilliant track HALAQA limited to 50 downloads.

Also you can have a listen to a MIX called “BEAUTFIUL DERVISH” which is made up entirely of CELT ISLAM’s Sufi Ghetto-Dub grooves.  You can stream the mix here at FAIRTILIZER.
