Tim Turbo and Danny Scrilla will be on “Lazerdaze Summertour 2009” presented by SEEN and TropiCali Prod in the first two weeks of august. Starting in California’s north we will lazer our way down the coast and then jump over to Texas, equipped with black duffle bags, brimful with Ghetto Lazerbass. We would love if you would like to help to promote the tour a little bit with posting our tourmix hosted by Prince Zimboo and loaded with exclusive tunes (remixes, own productions and our Munich bass gangmembers Schlachthofbronx) on your blog or page or telling your friends, family and hood to be there or be square like a stamp on our postcards to Germany.

This is not a mix. Rather, this is a compilation of the best UK Funky I could find, taken from radio shows. I’m NOT pretending I have these tunes. Rather, I’m showcasing the best in UK Funky. Because, while funky is wonderful, there’s a lot of tunes out there I don’t like that much, and I wanted an hour of music I could point that would say, “this is what I want. This is what I want to make.” Something that would be, for want of a better word, a manifesto of what Funky could be; what I think it should be. I’m not very geeky about funky, or at least not yet, I just love it and listen to it and make it, so I don’t know many of the tunes on here. Probably someone like Queen of Sheba or Paul Autonomic knows every single one, but I don’t. The lyrics tab has timings of the radio shows and podcasts that I’ve taken the rips from.
What I do know is that this stuff absolutely rocks. Funky skeptics, start here.
4m – big marcus nasty tune! still don’t know who made it.
8m – another one. scotty d or lil silva?
11m – lil silva ‘different’ (vip?) layered with crazi cousinz ‘inflation’
20m – dj gregory and karizma ‘don’t panic’
21m – wookie ‘gallium’
25m – dj gregory and karizma ‘vasefa’
28m – maybe kenny dope or terry hunter?
38m – sticky ‘how very dare you’
40m – perempay ‘in the air’
43m – don’t know but i’ve been wondering too..
45m – hard house banton ’sirens’
47m – vasefa again
51m – slipped my mind but i think ukfunky has it
trainspotter passing though…
Here’s some great modern bellydance music from a member of the USA/Israeli band, Balkan Beat Box who in their own words, “make connections that politics often keep separate. Jewish, Gypsy, Arabic, and American are united by hip hop beats and dancehall toasts”.
UBK is the guitarist behind the gypsy surf band Boom Pam and Balkan Beat Box. He is now releasing an album of his productions and remixes called “Massive Soundtrack For The Modern Belly Dancer”.
I got this cut from Sabbo’s great NOIZ IN ZION blog, which I’m pretty sure he also posted on the MAD DECENT blog not so long ago.

And not only the blog, the CHIEF will be gracing us with a visit to our regular night in TILBURG, HOLLAND tomorrow, that is 31st of JULY for all you non-daily checkers (shame on u! 🙂 ) We’re doing a night called TROPICAL BASS so come on down if you are up for some good vibes and cool music from all over the globe. And did I mention the party is FREE??
RUFF is another artist that came my way via the excellent HACHIBUR blog which is really the one for finding out the latest on urban Israeli grooves.
Here’s what they say about Israel’s brightest Hip-Hop Hope:
“One of the most promising names in Israeli Hiphop is Ruff. He can deliver hard core beats and at the same time beats for the clubs. He got a sick “hungry” flow inspired by the likes of Royce Da 5’9, Common and others”.
Don’t know that much about this gal save for she seems to be pretty big in Israel veering more on the commercial, perhaps gimmicky side, maybe?
HerMY SPACEdoesn’t give away much either and she doesn’t seem to have a big following on it. You would have thought a big star in any country would at least have a bit of a big following. Maybe it’s not her official site or maybe she’s not that big in Israel after all!
Anyway, here are a few cutz, a bit on syrupy side, but at least it gives you an idea. One is produced by Sabbo!
yes, Fo Sure! I cant read what it says in the original post on the awesome MASALA BLOG, but i’m guessing its something like: Here’s a fascinating piece of minimal mambo, Something with an example and great dancing at 168 bpm? If you know french you can send us a better translation 🙂 check it:
