A Jo’burg-based multimedia maverick (check out his awesome TV/DJ/VJ studio on The Economist’s Thinking Spaces site), DJ Strat3gy (aka Glenn van Loggerenberg) has managed to mix his love of DJing with the production of cutting-edge television shows, music videos and events, and has done much in the past few years to spread his passions to the deeper-minded in South Africa.
One of these passions is Afro-flavoured house music, and the below mix, posted on Whomp!FM, blends the best in locally-produced rhythms with African-leaning international beats. The near hour-long journey pairs tracks by hot South African producers like L’Vovo, Culoe de Song, Black Coffee, Shana, DJ Clock and Big Nuz (who won Song Of The Year at the SA Music Awards over the weekend) with overseas sparring partners like Abicah Soul, Martin East and Ralf Gum.

It’s a proper selection of global, tribal tunes whipped together by a top-notch South African talent.
