Well quick but solid round-up for this time. Let’s travel a bit and cover such countries as Colombia, Belgium, Mexico and Germany with:
2 – Max le Daron
3 – Santos
4 – Catani
1 – When I was in Medellin, Colombia, I discovered Daniel Florez aka Dany F aka DCB, a young paisa all devoted to deep house. He was living just a few streets away from my flat, I could see his block from my balcony and hear some bass coming from his home-studio sometimes, but I couldn’t get in touch with him although I wanted to interview him. Most of the young people of his age are not really into cumbia there, but listening to his “roots and cloud spell”, he begun to mix cumbia and deep house together. Well, You know UMB and Caballo told you about him regularly on the blog. He comes back again with one of his best production based on a lot of beats, a gaita and a marimba.
2 – Max le Daron. Rough character, good producer of another “ravecumbiaton” for the EP of the combo Hat & Hoodie. Sometimes I am very preocupied of the bad and repetitive use done of the Emayocutz cumbia loops pack. But Max, a young talented belgian producer leads the way. Give this track a chance (the first 20 seconds are kind of Dj friendly but does not really matched my expectatives), and the bass drop, synth, rythm switches will convince you. It’s FREE and it’s worth downloading it for Bass heads. Thanks Max !
3 – Santos could be the President of Colombia but prefered to rule some exclusive underground dancefloors from Tijuana, Mexico. With this tracks he went deep south remixing an andean theme (yes ?) into a dreamy punchy cumbia that get you to transe.
4 – Das Kumbia: Back from LA in 2007, Catani, a german producer, was infected by the cumbias of mexico and noticed mexican cumbias had some similarities with the sound he was pushing in Berlin. So he came closer and ended up with a remix of our Driver&Driver song “Der kleine Ernst”. The original song will be on our Album “We are the World” coming on Jan. 21st on Berlin based label Staatsakt. Well, I love Germany germans, I lived there in 2007 and it’s nice to hear some good “cumbia auf deutsch”. FREE DOWNLOAD, Vielen Dank alter !
