First off, Happy New Year!
I know it’s a few days in now, but this is the first post of 2011 for me so I felt it was necessary.
I want to start this post by sharing a tune from Bukkha who represents the Dubs Alive Camp out of San Francisco.
This sub laced, dub influenced tune always get a killer response on the floor and on air, so I’m confident you’ll enjoy it.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet and punk Bukkha while in Santa Cruz late last year! 😛
I walked up to him while he was spinning a set at Streetlight and asked him “what kind of music he was playing?” and “if he was going to be playing it all night?” He actually began to explain like a kind soul and I couldn’t take it any further after that. Big up both Bukkha and the Dubs Alive fam, irie vibes each and every.
Legend4ry is of course one of my favorite Crossroads artists and this is a great remix of his tune “Running Shoes” from Bandicoot!
Lege has far too many releases and forthcoming releases on numerous labels for me to get into it here, but I would recommend finding him if you are not already connected in one way or another.
Here’s a fresh one from DZ at BADMAN. It’s a tune for the heavy heads and I’m somewhat surprised by it to be honest. I would have never thought DZ would take his sound in this direction, but it goes to show you that this genre is still really wide open to us producers, so for that I’m with it.
Here are 2 more tunes from the Dank “N” Dirty Compilation.
Absolute perfection in my opinion from both Enigma & Sub Antix. These tunes get a killer response and have some big names supporting them. Grab them while you can!
Massive respect to Cotti and the entire Sum Ting New fam.
Cotti gave this away late last year and it deserves not only to be heard, but deserves a play out. Grab it!
Alright, here I’m introducing you to Grizzly-J (also released under Chef Squiggly on Crossroads Records) from my neck of the woods.
Grizz and I stumbled into one another at an outdoor party last year without knowing each other. We got to talking and he surprised me by knowing who I was and was excited to meet me, which of course made me feel great.
Anyway, he said he made tunes etc, etc and so he sent a few over after we both returned home. I ended up releasing his tune
“Whompus” through Crossroads on the Fuel 2 Compilation last year and it’s a little killer, I still love it. He’s come a long way in a very short period of time and already has forthcoming releases on both D-Fault & Bass Star lined up, so keep those eyes and ears peeled!
With all of that said, here is a little freebie from the one like Grizzly-J! Big up Toxxiq for the fresh photo!
To finish off this weeks post here are a few freebies from more of the Crossroads fam including: Beerz, Experiment1, Filth Collins, FLeCK, Hardplace and yours truly! Cheeky, I know… 😛 😛
Again, Happy New Year, and big up to all of you pushing good music!
