Been waiting for this for a while.  Dub Gabriel has always walked his own path and he continues to do on this album and demonstrates why he is one of the most vastly underrated Bass producers on the scene.

This album, that came out today, sticks firmly to the underground where Dub Gabriel has lived most of musical career and it is without pretence and it is as real as the man is himself.

With a major all-star cast that you can read about below, this is a great album and has elements of Transnational Dubstep, Dancehall, Reggae and of course RaggaBass.

Stand outs for me are the brilliant tracks with Jahdan Blakkamoore, The Spaceape, Warrior Queen, Dr Israel & Pedro Erazo, PJ Higgins and David Jay & U-Roy.

The track with PJ Higgins, my favourite on the whole album, is perhaps the most surprising cause it just sounds like a souped -up lost Reggae classic from the 70’s golden period, amazing!!!  Whilst you’ve never heard U-Roy in this light before on a track with a mystical and magical feel-good factor and sounding like a fairy tale and can it get any better, yes it can, cause David J (Bauhaus & Love & Rockets) is on bass!!!.  The Jahdan track that kicks off the album has this mean Bass and the melodic backing vox sound ever so Plantlife without being too obvious in that regard.  The Spaceape track is just political poetry at its finest conjuring up images of revolutions from all across the world.  Warrior Queen must have one of the most distinctive voices in the underground bass scene, when you hear her, you immediately know who it is, she always delivers fyah and it’s no different on the track that features on this album, always captivated by her vox.  “Draw the Line” features Dr Israel and Pedro from Gogol Bordello and is a sublime slice of Middle Eeastern Transnational Dubstep, executed to perfection.

All in all, this is just a great Bass album, the best Bass album of 2013!  It reeks of quality and style and stays faithful to the underground and, unlike most Bass albums, is consistent throughout the whole journey.  This is why I fell in luv with Dub & Bass and man I’m just so happy that we have artists like Dub Gabriel around who continue to make some of the greatest bass music we will ever know.  This album will remain forever “timeless”.  I’ll still be listening to this album in 10 years time, guaranteed!

Dub Gabriel really deserves major success but his sound is so steeped in the underground, that the fear is that he will be continually overlooked when in fact he should be gracing all the big stages in America which are instead dominated by all the fakesters.  I really hope we can overcome this problem and DG receives all the accolades and success that he so richly deserves for his work.

Raggabass Resistance is the groundbreaking 4th album release from critically acclaimed Ragga/Dubstep producer, Dub Gabriel. Three years in the making and spanning multiple continents, he has been on an epic bass-fueled journey that saw him enlist the support of an incredible crew of collaborators – U-Roy, Warrior Queen, The Spaceape (Kode9/Burial), Brother Culture, Jahdan Blakkamoore (Major Lazer/Snoop Lion), Dr. Israel, MC Zulu, Juakali, PJ Higgins (Temple of Sound), David J (Bauhaus/Love & Rockets), Pedro Erazo (Gogol Bordelo), and Mark Pistel (Hercules & Love Affair) – they all come together in an electro-organic stew of future reggae sounds to create Dub Gabriel’s most realized and ambitious album to date.

Originally from Chicago, and now living in San Francisco (by way of Brooklyn and Berlin), Dub Gabriel got his start at New York’s legendary Limelight Club in the late 90’s, which quickly gained him significant press coverage in major publications including Interview Magazine, The New York Times and Time Out New York, and launched him as one of America’s premier producers and DJ’s. A tireless innovator, his musical explorations have taken him the furthest reaches of electronic, rock and world music, appearing on over 25 releases that include collaborations with Michael Stipe of REM, and The Master Musicians of Jajouka, and a string of massive remixes for artists such as Balkan Beat Box and Dubblestandart feat. director David Lynch & reggae legend Lee Scratch Perry.
