Carlos Valle, AKA Rathero, is a music producer living in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born and raised in Peru and is very much influence by its culture and other ethnic sounds from around the globe. He was surrounded by electronic music from an early age and started djing in his early teens but with time realized he wanted to learn more. Rathero began playing guitar in high school and joined a punk band called “Terror Squad.” Around 2012 he started teaching himself music production and while he is still defining his sound, you can hear influences in his music ranging from Dancehall, Punk, and Reggae to Hip Hop, Salsa, and more.

Rasterinha EP : Funk na Caixa

rasterinha EP

Since we started to cover the Rasterinha movement, we had the idea to release an EP to get the point of this new style across to you.  This idea started on December/13, but only now, in almost march/14 we finished.

11 tracks of Rasterinha, showing the differents way to produce it.

One point is: producers sometimes get confused with the Rasterinha beat. They are confusing it with Moombahton and Zouk Bass beat. The only similarity of it is the slow bpm. Only. This is one reason we took so long to finish the EP. But now, we are proud in announce this ep, which sounds more like an album!

All tracks are available for free download, or you can click in this link to get full album with one click.

OKULUS ANOMALI : KNOWMAD

KnowMad-Okulus-Anomali-GenerationBass-Zouk-Bass-86bpm

Our dude Okulus just missed out on the previous edition of the Zouk Bass compilation as he ran out of time and he has been saving that track and finally here it is.

It’s an awesome slab of Funky Zouk Bass riddims with a touch of Riot about it with the incorporation of the Liquid DnB elements, it’s straight up Madness!!!

Méli Mélo – Perfect Storm

artworks-000072165608-z93fbi-original

Final day of Zouk Bass week and we still have a load in store for you today.

This track is more inclined towards Kizomba vybz and is from one of the few UK producers making these kind of vybz.

An awesome track for a beach party.

Here’s what the artist says:

Perfect Storm is the latest track from fusion artist, Méli Mélo (Fly Beat Music), which mixes psyche, dub and zouk bass with typically tropical instrumentation and chaotic soundscapes to create a unique transnational sound that chimes with the current global unrest.

…And if you don’t give a shit about that, it also doubles up as an excellent tune to grab your lady, wind your hips, and pretend your dancing in the wild weather.

RIOT'S (BURAKA SOM SISTEMA) ZOUK BASS TOP 10 [INCLUDES PREVIEWS OF 2 NEW TRACKS]

1957607_813770065306396_772262431_n

Riot aka Rui Pité is one of the most important and unsung heroes in the Transnational Bass scene.  One of the team at Buraka Som Sistema, he has often preferred to stay in the background but that has started to change recently when he unleashed some of the most lethal Zouk Bass tracks we’ve ever heard in the scene so far under his own moniker “Riot”.

This year we know he is going to cement his individual ID as “Riot” with his forthcoming Zouk Bass EP and he will demonstrate, alongside his Buraka bandmate Branko, why he is still one of the most talented producers at the top of his game in this scene even after all the years with Buraka Som Sistema and his previous DnB career.  His ideas and sounds are continually progressive and fresh!

It is with the greatest pleasure and honour to have him here sharing with us his  favourite Zouk Bass tracks and EXCLUSIVE previews of 2 brand new tracks!!!!!

Yelram Selectah – Prisioneros EP

Prisioneros

For followers of Sexxy Saturday Cumbia, the Chile based netlabel Regional Label will be a household name. But you should all keep an eye on this channel.. This EP, released two days ago is the new project of one of my all-time favourite artists, Yelram Selectah!

Regional Label describes Yelram’s style as ‘post-cumbia’. ‘Prisioneros’ is an ominous fusion of cumbia, hard trap beats and dark synths that are an artistic, critical reflection on the socio-political situation of Mexico today. Five major Mexican producers have contributed with remixes.

The alround nu-cumbiambero Pa Kongal brings a vibe that holds the middle between zouk bass, lento, cumbia and a little bit of twerk!

Experimental bass talent Mr Jags did an amazingly crazy trap-twerk-techno edit which is probably even darker than the original!

El Catorce also chose for a powerful trap-techno vibe but at a much higher speed, with heavier 808s kicks and massively reverbed percussion!

X-1 delivers a delicious closing track with a thoughtful deep drum ‘n bass remix!

RATHERO : SEMILLA EP

Continuing Zouk Bass week, here’s EP No.3 on day 4.

Rathero is one of our predicted names to watch in 2014 in this scene.

This is his first Zouk Bass EP and it consists of 3 blistering tracks of Stadium sound and it represents his personal take on Zouk Bass and the Trans Bass sound.

The first track, “Semilla,” is heavily influenced by Arabian sounds but still maintains the hard hitting elements that Rathero likes to use in his songs.

The second track “Revienta” is a bit abrasive yet carries a slow rhythm that truly makes his sounds stand out upon others.

The final track “Money & Cars,” delves more into the percussion side of Zouk and is the song that brought him to the attention of Generation Bass.

Gabriel Rowano – Lento y Duro remixes EP

LentoDuro

With all the amazing zouk bass going on this week, I just had to contribute as well. That’s why I’m bringing this massive EP under your attention. ´Lento y duro´, Spanish for ´slow and hard´ is a collaboration of the most innovative minds in the transnational bass scene, released a week ago on Dubco‘s blog and netlabel!

The original mix is a zoukbass track from upcoming talented producer Gabriel Rowano and is the perfect combination of the pleasure of a downtempo vibe with powerful electronic sounds!

Reptilian Commander‘s remix holds the middle between trap and experimental breakbeat and turns up the heat halfway the track with a heavy bass synth.

Insane Fennel is known for his dark, mysterious approach to transnational sounds. That is exactly what he does here too, in an absolutely visionary way. His remix is a blend of orchestral chords, deep growls, experimental sounds and diverse percussion.

Caballo turns up the tempo towards a bubbling-like riddim, with drum rolls and a bright snare, spiced up with crazy chopped vocal samples and an extra synth.

The bass collective Bubbleheads tries a very different vibe with heavy, organic kicks, melodic percussion and a delicious flute.

The last contribution comes from the Dutch tropicalist Café de Calaveras who brings the ultimate dancefloor banger with this delicious, minimalistic blend of kuduro and trap sounds! I can only repeat Dubco’s advice: keep an eye on this name!

Rowano himself takes care of the last remix, and what could have been a better choice than to use his own delicious lento-riddim, the slower, reggaeton-inspired cousin of moombahton..

CABALLO'S GUEST POST [LATINO ZOUK BASS]

1964289_10151998584237157_545188711_n

Caballo drops back onto the blog from where it all started and here’s his Zouk Bass week Guest Post.

I am very happy to again, collaborate in this ZOUK BASS week  lead by Generation Bass and involving Latino Resiste & Lacroixx

Now, I know GB has a whole artillery of Zouk Bass so I decided to shift it a little by posting some of the Latino-side of the zouk, who are also giving a push to the Luso-African genre.

Short, but totally worth!

First our very own Latino Resiste’s Wost with his Blair Bitch, which has an epic drop!

This KID is dropping his EP for FREE on Feb 28th

Second is Peruvian Rathero who is always in the spot either with Twerk or ZB

Related, obviously, is Spanish David F Gonzalez aka YOKE with an evil zouk bass that has all the appeal for those who like BASS’ dark side

Mexican Ghetto Kids drop a dembow that fits perfectly any zoukbass party!
