Neki introducing us to more hidden gems within the Balkan communities:

“Ćita from Macedonia (currently living in Germany) is the most popular and most influential contemporary singer/performer among the Balkan Gypsies of Muslim faith, the uncrowned king of “tallava” (slow tempo electronic Gypsy music). In this particular track you can hear the influences coming from the Indian subcontinent – the motherland of all Gypsies that they left almost eight centuries ago.

This is a remix of a 10-year-old audio cassette recording of his performance for the Roma Minority Association in Pula, made as a part of my Remixing Identities Workshop held in June this year as a part of Media Mediterranea Festival in Croatia.”
